Oliver has worked to support innovative practices in Higher Education ever since graduating from Coventry University with a BA (Hons) First Class Photography Degree. He is passionate about innovation in education, something which he has been on the receiving end of as a student and has sought to deliver on as both a teacher and a Projects and Community Assistant at the Disruptive Media Learning Lab. He loves to champion new and innovative ideas, whether they are new ways of accreditation, new teaching methods, or exploring playful and game based learning. He loves drinking tea and hiking in the countryside.

Project and Community Assistant | Disruptive Media Learning Lab
April 2016 to Present

Working closely with colleagues from a range of disciplines I have helped develop University wide initiatives to promote and develop Coventry’s Beyond Flipped learning programme, worked to develop the implementation and management of Open Badges, and developed educational escape games under the GameChangers programme. Utilising a re-worked Google Ventures SPRINT process, I have been actively involved in developing innovative new courses over a rapid prototyping exercise of five days. As well as developing new pedagogical approaches, I also work to develop community and outreach projects through developing online and offline networks, events, and outreach activities.

Hourly Paid Lecturer | Coventry University
Sept 2015 to Present

Developing innovative new approached to teaching, I have taught two modules within Coventry University’s School of Media and Performing Arts. I have taught Photography as a Professional Tool to year one students, and Digital and Social Media to second year students. Within my teaching practices I focus on active participation and skills development, taking a workshop led approach combined with traditional lecture led teaching.

Graduate Project Activator | Disruptive Media Learning Lab
May 2015 to April 2016

Working with a team of creative educational innovators I took my passion for developing conceptual ideas and used this to provide support to the exciting and dynamic work of the Disruptive Media Learning Lab. I was an influential player in Coventry University’s Open Badges pilot programme, which rapidly developed from a small scale pilot into a large scale, cross-disciplinary pilot scheme to provide flexible accreditation for extra-curricular training and experience.
